Slope roofing applications
Asphalt shingles
The most common sloped roofing application is asphalt shingles. Asphalt shingles mostly come as laminated architectural shingles made with fibreglass and SBS. Older shingles used to have an organic paper felt mat that was soaked in asphalt. As the organic shingles aged, the shingles would begin to curl at the corners and edges, loose granules and even crack. This has been very evident on a lot of recently renovated sloped roofs or sloped roofs needing renovations soon. Cedar shakes
Cedar shakes are a classic sloped roofing application that continues to provide homes and buildings with a rustic look that ages well. With architectural controls in place in many neighbourhoods, and with historic buildings, the cities of Edmonton and Calgary and their greater metropolitan areas require roofing contractors that can continue to install quality cedar roofs. If your cedar shingles are splitting, cupping or becoming loose, it may be time to replace or service your cedar roof.
